Are We Slowly Killing Our Children?

Acclaimed Chef Jaime Oliver says Yes! – with food.

And he just recently won a TED award because of his ambition for our country to make a food revolution.

Making a change in the food we give to our children is one of those things that, like our book says, if You Don’t Fix It…Your Kids Will Inherit It!

Jamie mentions several children who are the third generation in families who literally “don’t know how to cook.”

When we are preparing our children for the exit exam they take when the move out of your home, it is so important to stay focused on the skills they will need to survive on their own.

Teach your children to cook. If you don’t know how to cook, ask a friend to teach you or take a class at your local community college. Your children need to know how to make at least 10 healthy meals on their own.

Jamie’s 20 minute speech for his TED award is extremely well done with just the right amount of humor to break up his intensity and passion.

One of our children’s favorite easy meals is Quesadillas. Sprinkle cheese on a tortilla and toast it in a pan until the cheese melts. My kids also like to put corn, refried beans or shredded chicken in them too.

Please post recipes your children love to make. We’re always looking for more ideas!
